A candidate is required to be at least 12th pass from a recognized Board or University. He/She must be able to produce the required documents when asked for verification after qualifying the SSC Stenographer Exam.

As per the notification, minimum qualifying marks in Computer Based Examination, are as follows:

- OBC/ EWS: 25%
- All other categories (SC, ST, PwD, ESM, etc): 20%
